of serpentine form with a later moulded mottled liver-grey and white marble top above a frieze centred by a stylized scallopshell and floral swags on a cross-hatched ground, the knees with a boldly carved scallopshell and cabriole legs terminating in scolled feet; regilt
Condition
In need of some cosmetic restoration to the gilding but once restored will look most attractive.There is an old restoration to the corner of the top which has been well executed and is not too noticeable and there is another area of restoration to one side which has red infill and a small chip. There are some chips and losses to carving and gilding as visible in the photograph which can easily be touched up. There are some leaves on one side which have been regilded in a different colour gilding. There are some hairline cracks generally especially in the scallopshells which can easily be touched up. Some losses to gilding. In need of some cosmetic restoration to the gilding but once restored will look most attractive.
