Condition

This tapestry is lined. It has old hoops attached across the top. It is recommended that Velcro should be added for hanging purposes in the future. It is dirtier in the top section of the tapestry, especially across the width of top quarter, including the border. There are some areas of weakness and minor splits, for example to the areas of light silk highlights; for example to shoulder and arm of central figure with shield and blue body armour, and to the shoulder of the figure lying in the centre foreground, with his leg across the horse. Minor horizontal split top left sky. Sky is discoloured. The drawing of the composition is balanced and executed with accomplished weaving. The border design is very decorative and exceptionally detailed and with some charming motifs, including the dragon in the lower left corner. Very evocative tapestry of it's era.
