Condition

The casket is in good condition overall. Very few pearls missing to the embroidery and to the edges of the casket and the lock. Some part of the embroidery getting off the wooden core on the front edges. The hinge presents a little bit of movement. The fabric covering the back of the casket slightly torn. Very rare and attractive piece.

Catalogue Note

Ce coffret se rapproche par son décor brodé du coffret au chiffre de Marie de Médicis conservé au Musée du Louvre (OA 9463). On retrouve l'aspect naturaliste des diverses espèces représentées, identifiables pour certaines : roses et pensées notamment. La technique de la broderie de perles était procédé très couteux dont on conserve fort peu d'exemplaires.
