Condition

The cup is in very good condition overall. A fine visible diagonal fissure across the inside of the cup. A minor restoration visible at the crossing of the fissure with the rim. Very nice and attractive piece.

Catalogue Note

La pierre, une agate jaspée assez rouge (également appelée agate d'Allemagne ou jaspe translucide) est proche de celle du vase de la collection Mazarin (op. cit, cat. 105, p. 249-250). On trouve également une coupe assez proche en forme de coquille dans la collection du Museum d'Histoire Naturelle  que nous reproduisons ici (7.176).
