the deep rounded body, supported by a stem and flared foot, and with a domed cover, flanked by two loop handles on the sides and a narrow band of decoration along the waist filled with small triangulars and circlets, the same band repeated on the cover, the central flaring knob cast with interlocking serpents and tiny dots, the bronze with a dark patina and patches of malachite encrustrations (2)
Provenance
Collection of Mr. & Mrs. Ralph Harman Booth, Grosse Pointe, Michigan, acquired in the 1920s, and thence by descent.
Condition
The X-rays reveal that there is a restored crack under the rim, next to the handle. There is a restored patch on the body above the foot. The stem foot has been reattached, and there is a small restored patch on the foot rim. The cover is in good condition.
