the solidly carved toprail with shaped yoke and upswept flat ends supported on corner posts which continue through to the back legs, centered by a thick, attractively grained C-shaped rectangular back splat, the elongated S-shaped arms supported by curved stiles and posts, the hard mat seat above the round-section front legs joined by continuous shaped aprons, a footrest, and side and back stretches with plain aprons

Acquired by the present owner at Kilshaws Auctioneers, Ltd., Victoria BC, 1972.

Condition

The chair has been slightly reduced in height. Two joins and the splat restored along the crestrial and the remaining joins consolidated. One of the stiles has been replaced, the front stretcher is missing its apron.
