with steep flared sides resting on a recessed base with a narrow foot rim, boldly painted on the exterior in vibrant enamels of blue, green, pink, white, aubergine and yellow with a scene of two seated scholars conversing on a ledge above running water with waves lapping against rockwork and a waterfall, six-character mark in underglaze blue within double circles

The cup is in overall good condition. There is an iron spot and scattered burst air bubbles to the rim.
