  • ink and colour on paper, hanging scroll
with two seals of the artist, and two collector's seals, one on the titleslip. Titleslip by Kao Ling-mei

Inscription:
Plain and simple are what the lives of scholars are,
Don't sigh that you are too poor to have fish for a dish.
Pray not to use too much oil to cook the vegetables;
Save some for the lamp under which you teach your son. Yuan.
