  • oil on canvas
  • 127 by 101.5cm., 50 by 40in.

Condition

The canvas is original but has a new outer strip along the exterior edges, probably to protect where the original is wearing slightly thin in places. There is a central horizontal stretcher bar mark and an upper edge stretcher bar mark. Some signs of craquelure across the surface, predominantly to the standing nude's chest, leg and drapery and to the nude lying down. Ultraviolet light reveals some areas of retouching along the upper edge and corners. Elsewhere some scattered flecks across the surface but not excessive.
