Catalogue Note
This original Peugeot poster depicts a race car moving at breakneck speed down a dirt track as its exhaust billows in the background, forming the red, white, and blue tricoleurof France.
René Vincent worked in an Art Deco style and became a legendary illustrator for his poster designs, which depict the first generations of automobiles and race cars, including Bugatti and Peugeot, as well as suppliers of automotive supplies, such as Michelin and Shell. Vincent also excelled in creating elegantly designed poster advertisements and prints for fashion, beverages, and weekly journals, including La Vie Parisienne. René Vincent, a keen automobilist and friend of Jean Bugatti, designed and built the first house in Paris with an integral garage, for his Bugatti.
This is one of Vincent’s most iconic poster designs, and it is a necessary requirement of any complete vintage poster collection.
