woven with the Petag mark in the lower right corner, the design based on 16th century Safavid 'Vase' carpets, on an unusual green ground
Condition
Attractive green with pastel coloured motifs. Pile generally 4mm; localised areas down to knotbars in areas up the central area, to particular colours, for example to peach, green, blue and mustard petals, and to areas of the green ground, especially centre of lower end. Overall impression is very good. Oxidisation to area of brown, such as brown petals. Original overcast sides. Vestiges of tassels to fringe in lower left curled corner, and top right corner. With the Petag mark in top left of the carpet (lower right of image in catalogue). Flexible handle. Striking and decorative carpet. Would benefit from a clean. Ends overlocking generally sound and ready to use. Good size with unusual colouring.
