Small semi-circular area of repair to the right side, lower section. With original flat weave side cords in red and blue, and some areas of repair and losses, towards corners. Catalogue Note
The dyrnak guls, made up of an unusual interplay of flowers and triangles, are the principle motifs in the field, creating a dynamic design, with each gul appearing to rotate in vibrant colours. The broad elem panels are particularly unusual and correlate with a rare piece illustrated in Rautenstengel, Annette & Volker, Studien zur Teppich-Kultur der Turkmen: Turkmen Main Carpets of Different Tribes with "Eagle" and Dyrnak Gols, Annette Rautenstengel Verlag, Hilden,1990, pg. 117, pl. 58. (with E. Herrmann, Munich)
