Description

  • MAHOGANY PINE BRASS LEATHER
  • 79.5cm. high, 54cm. wide, 41cm.; 2ft. 7¼in., 1ft. 9¼in., 1ft. 4in.
one with a tooled leather inset top above a cupboard door and sides mounted with leather book spines, fitted inside with three shelves, the other with a leather inset top above three open shelves with leather book spines, both on concealed castors, (one tooled leather top replaced)

Condition

Generally these two cabinets are in excellent condition. They have been repolished and are ready to place. As stated one leather top is a later replacedment. Both tops have old marks and stains which do not detract.

The present bookcases relate closely to a design in the Gillows Estimate Sketch books for a bookcase made in 1831 for Ferguson & Co., the London partners, see illustration. See a similar example illustrated in Susan E.
