- EBONY PINE OAK BEECH TURTLESHELL AND IVORY
- 157cm. high, 92cm. wide, 43cm. deep; 5ft. 2in., 3ft. ¼in., 1ft. 5in.
the cabinet with panels with raised mouldings, the hinged pagoda top with two inset painted panel to the inside depicting landscape settings flanking a mirror, the pair of doors below enclosing a tortoiseshell lined interior of architectural forn with a pediment and column ornament, with a central cupboard beneath a drawer and nine further drawers painted with landscape scenes ( two later painted in 19th century), the reverse of the cupboard doors painted with landscape scenes, with a drawer below, on a stand with a drawer and raised on turned legs
Condition
Overall good condition. There is some warping to the top and cracks and loss to veneers. Minor losses and age cracks to veneers and mouldings generally. The left hand handle is detached and there are losses are round the holes in the carcase adjacent to where it would be fixed. The central arched panel inside is cracked and there are minor paint losses. Some loss to decoration on the left hand door inside consistent with rubbing against a handle.
