Description
- MAHOGANY PINE BEECH
- 72cm. high, 112.5cm. wide, 81cm. deep; 2ft. 4½in., 3ft. 8½in., 2ft. 8in.
in Chinese Chippendale style, the top with drop-leaves and a reading slope on a ratchet above a drawer, fitted with a baize inset slide with a further reading slope on a ratchet above compartments and a small drawer to the side fitted for writing implements, opposed by a slide, with an undertier below, the sides with fret carving, on square legs dividing at the front to support the drawer
Condition
This piece is in overall good condition. The colour and patina are both very good. The top has old marks and scratches and some old stains consistent with age and use. Some minor age cracks to the top which have been filled with inset thin strips of timber. The central flap formally with a detatchable ledge, apertures filled. The secondary timbers to the underside of the top have old worm which does not appear to be active but should be checked. The fret sides and back have age cracks and minor repairs consistent with age and use. The lower tier has some old marks and scratches. An attractive piece.
