Catalogue Note
Vasudhara is the Goddess of well-being granting everything that is needed for a life blessed with prosperity, wealth, fertility and without hardship. She is the Buddhist counterpart of the Hindu goddess Lakshmi. Depicted in its six-armed tantric form, she is seen as the partner of the gold of wealth Jambhala who emanates from the five Tathagatas. Compare a figure of Vasudhara formerly in the Berti Aschmann Collection, illustrated in Helmut Uhlig, On the Path to Enlightenment. The Berti Aschmann Foundation of Tibetan Art at the Museum Rietberg Zuerirch, Zuerich, 1995, p. 152.
