Description

  • Ink and pigments on paper
encre et pigments sur papier, monté en rouleau
signé GAI QI, daté ding hai, 1827, printemps, avec inscription et deux cachets de l'artiste

Condition

There is a ca. 2cm wide tear to the paper to the left of the character'ding' in the inscription and a second, ca. 2cm long horizontal tear to the paper to the left of the figure. There is also a ca. 10cm long crease to the paper on the left hand side of the figure and some light creases scattered across the paingin. There are also two stained scratches of ca. 4cm and 2cm length to the left and right of the inscription. There is some light staining along the upper and right hand sides of the painting where it is mounted and some small areas of loss to the paper scattered across the painting. The colours are less yellow than the catalogue illustration suggests.
