Condition
Good condition overall. Wear consistent with age and use within the culture. Fine dark patina to the 3 insignas. The largest one has some open cracks to the lower parts. Two holes and a loss are visible on the proper right side of the figure.

"Des artefacts voués à divers usages : des insignes de fonction - bâtons ou bâtonnets étayés par une tête, éventuellement par des bras, un buste, des jambes - des amulettes ou encore des sifflets étaient associés aux rites d'initiation et conservés ensuite pour la chasse et la guerre" (Grootaers, 2007, p. 146). Ces insignes anciens, d'une grande rareté, illustrent par leur saisissante stylisation, la singulière esthétique de la région de l'Ubangui.
