A young prince practises polo on foot, Mughal or Bikaner, early 18th century

The slightly chubby prince depicted here bears a strong resemblance to a late seventeenth-century drawing of a baby prince in the Indian Office Collection, British Library (see Falk and Archer 1981, no.189 lxix, pp.120, 425). It is possible that it represents one of the young Mughal princes of the period.
