gouache heightened with gold on paper, on an album page with borders of buff and blue paper, possibly later inscription of identification on reverse

Condition

In reasonably good overall condition, some minor flaking and rubbing, particularly to left and right hand edges, loss to album page at bottom left hand corner, some paper repairs to reverse, colours and gold generally bright, as viewed.

Shaykh Abd al-Qadir Jalani (1078-1166 AD) was a revered mystic and Islamic theologian who held the position of guardian of Abu Hanifa's tomb in Baghdad.

The quality of the carpet in this miniature is particularly fine.
