  • Four Blue-and-White Persian and Chinese Vessels
  • Glazed ceramic
  • Diameters 14 1/4 and 9 in.; heights 4 1/2 and 9 1/2 in. 36.2 and 22.9 cm.; 11.4 and 24.1 cm.
comprising a Safavid dish decorated within a lobed medallion with a seated figure on a terrace amidst a profusion of flowers, panels containing beribboned boxes on the rim, a small Safavid dish painted with a European figure wearing a broad-brimmed hat standing in a Chinese landscape under a tree, a small Safavid vase of pear-shaped form with flaring mouth, the body decorated  with scrolling flowering vine, and a Chinese quintal vase, 19th/early 20th Century, with birds perched in flowering vine, a beribbed box on the neck.

Condition

The first very good, several chips on the edge of the rim and foot; the second repaired at the rim as shown, two minor chips on the edge of the rim, hole in the foot-ring for suspension, staining to glaze as shown; the third very good except for the mouth which has an old repair using metal brackets on one side (one of the three brackets is missing), small chips on edge and top of rim; the last very good, one prong on the lip chipped.
