- A Persian Polychrome Pottery Kalian, Safavid
- Glazed ceramic
- Height 12 7/8 in. 32.7 cm.
of pear-shaped form with low foot-ring, domed spout, and flaring rim, the body decorated in white, blue, olive green, and black with two foliate escutcheons against a field of dense flowering vegetation.
Provenance
Acquired in London in the late 1970s/early 1980s
Condition
The side not shown in the catalogue photo is repaired from large and small fragments, with some small in-fills along the break-lines. Several chips on edge of mouth and the top of the rim is much abraded, perhaps from usage. The upper perimeter of the spout is restored in plaster, which is chipped. One side of foot has a shallow chip.
