  • A Large Persian Blue-and-White Pottery Dish, Safavid, probably Meshed
  • Glazed ceramic
  • Diameter 17 3/4 in. 45.1 cm.
with low foot-ring, the interior painted in blue and outline-black with a Kylin straddling a fence in a Chinese landscape, lotus blossoms and geometric patterns on the rim, flowering vine on the exterior.

Acquired in London in the late 1970s/early 1980s

Condition

The lower half is repaired from several pieces and there is some restoration and in painting at the breaks. A section of the foot-ring is partially restored in plaster. Please note that an OFAC license may be required to export objects of Iranian origin from the United States.
