  • An Egyptian Stucco Mummy Portrait of a Man
  • Stucco and glass
  • Height 8 1/2 in. 21.6 cm.
with short curly beard stippled over the cheeks, wavy moustache, upturned nose, and inlaid glass eyes, the hair bound in a fragmentary laurel wreath and falling in thick wavy locks over the forehead.

Condition

Repaired break running diagonally from behind the proper right ear to locks of hair falling over middle of forehead, repairs also at proper right side of neck, beard under chin, beard on proper right side of chin, and proper left jaw, restoration or repair running vertically through proper left ear down jaw, much of this area stained in antiquity, lock of hair falling over proper left side of forehead restored, most of leaves from garland and many applied curls on top of head now lacking, inner corner of white of proper left eye lacking, small hole drilled through bottom of chin with rust stain, remains of metal pin attached to inside of head behind proper right ear, red pigment remaining inside nostrils, scattered nicks and chips.
