Condition
The canvas has been strip-lined along the four tacking edges. There are some very faint fine lines of craquelure in the upper left quadrant. Ultraviolet light reveals some scattered, relatively minor spots of retouching chiefly in the sky, some of which in the upper centre have discoloured slightly over time and are visible to the naked eye. The painting is overall in good condition.
Held in a decorative gilt frame with a cloth-lined inner slip.

Catalogue Note
Painted circa 1899. Crozant and Barrage de Genetin exemplify Guillaumin’s Crozant landscapes, which are also to be found in leading museums around the world including the Chicago Institute of Arts. Guillaumin was the leader of the École de Crozant, a diverse group of artists who painted the landscapes of the river Creuse around the village of Crozant in central France.
