of thin section with an unusual low relief carving style, the central dignitary a version of the Maize god as a dancer and flanked by dwarf attendants, in elaborate garb dominated by a twisted rope extending down the body, with large feathered backrack, the tall headdress with waterlily flower and plumes, holding a cloth in the right hand, each dwarf with a bundle, the figure on the right with head turned sharply backward, a band of vertical glyphs along the left side and horizontally across the back of the vessel of the Primary Standard Sequence.

Catalogue Note
The masterful carving style creates a dimensional effect, showing the paler carved areas appearing behind the burnished darker surface. The massive pale feathers behind the figure provide a backdrop for the dancer shown in a twirling action. He becomes the Maize god dancing with dwarf attendants as seen on Holmul style vessels; see mayavase.comK5976 and K7434 for the style of the figure.
