Condition

Original canvas. There is minor surface dirt and dust to the crevices. There are very faint, old possible handling marks apparent to the bottom corners, visible upon close inspection. The varnish on the white pigment in the right half of the composition appears to have browned very slightly. There is a very faint line of fine craquelure in line with the stretcher bar down the far right hand edge. This excepting the work appears in very good overall condition. Ultraviolet light reveals areas of fluorescence and probable retouchings to the extreme top edges, with further scattered areas appearing elsewhere. These have been executed in a sympathetic manner. Housed within a tight grey wooden box frame. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
