Catalogue Note
A similar lamp is the collection of the Cluny Museum, Paris, no. 12248, catalogued as French 1400s, see Narkiss, no. 21, and Grace Cohen Grossman, Jewish Museums of the World: Masterpieces of Judaica, p. 187. A comparable lamp is also in the Steiglitz Collection, Israel Museum (Narkiss, fig. 114). Recent analysis of the metal of this example suggests a date after the late 16th century.
