Catalogue Note
The inscriptions read translated: "Remember the Sabbath Day to keep it Holy" (Exodus 20:8) and "Observe the Sabbath Day to keep it Holy" (Deuteronomy 5:12).
Hieronymous Mittnacht, working 1735-1769, was specialized in making Kiddush cups and beakers. Helmut Selig gives five entries for beakers by him in Die Kunst der Augsburger Goldschmiede 1529-1868, no. 2270, p. 362.
