Description
- Bust of a noblewoman
- terracotta, on a veined mauve marble socle, and with a marblised wood fluted column
Provenance
Acquired from Frank Partridge & Sons, Ltd., London, 1 November 1968.
Condition
Overall the condition of the terracotta is very good with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There is a slip to the surface, which may possibly conceal unknown condition issues. There is a filled section to the back of the bust, behind the truncation, which may be original. There are a number of restored firing cracks, including to the middle of the chest above the drapery and in the drapery near the centre of the chest and on the proper left side (there is wear to the surface in these areas). Sections of the drapery on the proper left side are probably restored. There is a small restoration to the neck. There are also possible restorations to behind the shoulders and to the back near the socle. Some of the tips of the bow in the hair have been restored. There is dirt to the crevices, particularly in the hair.
