Condition

Overall in very good condition. The ebonized oak surfaces throughout appear to retain their original finish, displaying an exceptionally rich and satisfying dark coloration. The oak surfaces throughout with some occasional surface scratches, surface abrasions, edge wear with some small associated edge losses, and some isolated areas showing light finish losses consistent with age and gentle use. The proper front left foot with some edge losses and roughness to the bottom contour. The sides and top of the case with some very minor seam separations, consistent with the natural expansion and contraction of wood over time. All of the glass panels in the case appear original and undisturbed, with some light surface soiling and traces of surface reside to the glass. With eight interior adjustable shelves. Eight of the metal shelf supports are presently missing (out of a total of 32). The interior bottom boards with light surface soiling. With a period key. The brass escutcheon guards on the exterior front doors appear to be replaced. A very handsome example of this elegantally-proportioned Ellis design with a particularly attractive deep and rich ebonized finish. The bookcase displays beautifully in person.
