Condition
Overall in very good condition. The oak surfaces appear to retain their original finish, displaying exceptional figuring and a rich russet brown coloration. The oak with some occasional surface scratches, abrasion marks and edge wear consistent with age and use. With a few small old edge losses to the top corners. The lower butterfly keys with a few very small and minor old edge losses. The reverse side of the screen is fitted with chamfered boards inset within the framed upper register. These boards show minor shrinkage along the side framed borders, consistent with the natural expansion and contraction of wood over time. The leather panels appear to have been replaced, but look quite attractive and in keeping with the period aesthetic. The leather with scattered light surface scratches, abrasions and minor discolorations. The screen displays beautifully, distinguished by its elegant proportions and exquisite details and workmanship. The two-way hinge system allows for either side of the screen to be displayed as the front, and both sides are equally visual.
