Condition
Overall in very good condition. Each tile with minor glaze imperfections inherent in the making, including some occasional small areas where the glaze did not take to the surface. A few of the visible perimeter borders of the tiles with some minor edge wear and occasional small edge flecks consistent with age and gentle use. Some of this edge wear appears to be inherent in the making. The second tile with a small edge loss along the lower left border which appears to have been lightly touched up with color (1/4 x 1/8 inch). With an old (possibly period) stained oak frame. The frame with minor edge wear, a few small edge losses, and a few minute paint specks. A very attractive pictorial frieze with crisp molded details to the tiles and a particularly well-saturated and controlled glaze treatment. The tiles and frame display far greater nuance and depth of color than seen in the catalogue illustration, which is slightly over exposed.
