Condition
Overall in very good condition. The Turtleback glass all appears original and undisturbed, with no visible cracks to the glass tiles. One Turtleback tile with a shallow surface fleck to the lower right corner (5/8 x 1/2 inch), as well as a smaller edge fleck to the upper right corner (1/4 x 1/4 inch). Both of these flecks appear to have been stabilized in the past and are stable showing no movement to the touch. When the lamp is illuminated these flecks recede and do not visually detract from the shade. The exterior of the glass is intensely iridized throughout, displaying an extraordinary range of deeply saturated jewel-tone hues when viewed with reflected light. When the lamp is illuminated the glass remits a deep green glow. The patinated bronze surface of the base and top handle retain a deep and rich russet brown patina with subtle green highlights. The bronze surfaces with light surface wear and gentle rubbing consistent with age and gentle use. The green pigment applied to the shade leading with minor scattered losses throughout. The base appears to retain its original bronze decorative switch and interior electrical socket. The underside of the base with traces of old adhesive. The lamp has tremendous sculptural presence and is equally dazzling when seen with reflected and remitted light.
