Overall in very good condition. The large damascene shade is in excellent condition, with no visible chips or edge wear to the top aperture rim. The exterior of the shade with some very light surface scratches and abrasions consistent with gentle use. The shade displays superb wave form decoration, and is beautifully iridized on the exterior, displaying luminous jewel-tone hues of magenta, turquoise, orange and gold. The glazed pottery base is also in excellent condition, with some occasional minor surface imperfections and particulate inclusions inherent in the making. The glaze treatment is wonderfully irregular with a variety of layered colors. With two incised abstract fish on the body of the base. The interior of the pottery base with irregular glaze drips. The lamp retains its original oil burner unit, which has been converted to electricity utilizing all period components, including a central electrical socket. One of the two gas burner knobs now functions as the lamp switch. The gilt oil canister, shade arm collar and socket unit with some light surface wear, abrasions and discolorations consistent with age and use. An attractive shade and base pairing with a particularly impressive large-scaled favrile glass shade and unusual pottery base.
