the table top centered by St. Peter’s square surrounded by eight panels depicting the Pantheon, the Temple of Vesta, the Arch of Janus Quadrifrons, Castel Sant'Angelo and the Bridge, the Campidoglio, the Colosseum and the Arch of Titus and the Tomb of Cecile Matella, within a Greek frieze border and malachite bandings, set on a later carved wooden base

Condition

Extensive hairline cracks now filled with dirt. Other visible areas of dirt, which can be cleaned. Hairline scratches visible; polishing surface would help for cleaning and presentation. Some restoration visible to malachite banding as well as to a small area of the micromosaic's Greek frieze. The tesserae of the pictorial scenes are well set into the backing and there are no losses. Some restored chips to black marble edges.
