Catalogue Note
The cabinet maker Cornu Jeune was listed in the Parisian Almanac as " Fabricant de meubles Boulle, bois de rose, marqueterie ancienne et bronze d'art", with a business flourishing from 1856 to the late 1870's. He won several distinctions, most notably a first class medal at the 1860's Besançon exhibition. The present secrétaire bears the highest Parisian quality standard with its finely cast bronze mounts and the clever choice of luxurious wood inlays, in addition to a well executed marquetry.
