each painted in the front by Poitevin, with a gilt foliate caitouche depicting a bust portrait of Napoleon Bonaparte and Joséphine de Beauharnais and on the reverse with gilt Napoleonic devices.

Condition

Both vases with some very minor wear to the gilding on the ram's head handles. The stem of the vase with Josephine has been restored with overspray and regilding, the exact extent of damage is not clear to the overspray, but it is possibly covering a crack or a break.
