Catalogue Note

The Plesch copy. "The Botanical Garden at Pisa was founded around 1543 and was (with that at Padua, 1545) one of the first such gardens in Europe... Thus the long alphabetical list of plants in this volume is one of the most important for the early eighteenth century, and the volume memorializes the garden for all time" (Hunt).
