Catalogue Note
A group of four rare propaganda maps from the First World War depicting the rival countries in human or animal form, both from Allied and German viewpoints. The first map is famous cartographic curiosity published at the outbreak of the war, depicting some of the main protagonists as dogs - British bulldog, French poodle, German dachshund and Austrian mongrel. Russia is depicted as a road-roller, with the Czar at the controls, and a British sailor controls the Royal Navy in the manner of a puppet master.
