Catalogue Note

Gualtieri’s cabinet contained a great variety of shells and specimens which are the focus of this handsomely-produced volume. The large, finely-engraved plates artistically present the shells from two sides, thus affording a complete and more accurate view of the subject. Gualtieri’s collection has been preserved and can still be seen at the Museo storia naturale di Pisa.
