Catalogue Note
Saverio Mercadante (1795-1870) was, after Donizetti, the most important of Verdi's early contemporaries. Rosa Morandi created several roles for Rossini and the role of Adele in Adele ed Emerico for Mercadante at La Scala on 21 September 1822.
