Condition

Overall in very good condition. This lamp is being consigned by descendants of the original owners from the period and by all accounts the shade, base and finial have all originated together. The shade with approximately 9 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout. None of the glass cabochons have any visible cracks. One cabochon with minor traces of what appears to be black ink or paint on the exterior surface. The lower border of pale pink cabochons are double-plated on the reverse side of the shade, an unusual treatment which gives the glass greater color and depth. The patinated bronze surfaces of the “Twisted Vine” base display an exceptionally rich and vibrant russet brown and green patina. The patinated bronze surfaces throughout with some light surface scratch, surface abrasions, rubbing to the patina, and with a few small and minor traces of surface soiling and residue consistent with age and use. The twisted standard with a few small scattered areas of patina loss to the outermost contours, and with some light surface soiling to the recessed contours of the base design. All of the sockets and paddle switches appear to be original and undisturbed. The finial displays a corresponding patina to the base and by all accounts appears to be original to the lamp. A beautiful example of this iconic model displaying a highly desirable and harmonious shade and base pairing. The shade with an exceptionally artistic color palette, most notably distinguished by the unusual streaky mauve and green background glass and the strong jewel-tone glass articulating the wings ranging from deep violet to cobalt. The glass selection is very dazzling and luminous when viewed in person.
