Garnet and diamond brooch, 18th Century

Designed as a bird resting on a branch in full bloom, set throughout with lasqué-cut and rose diamonds, the bird with a garnet eye, one small diamond deficient, later brooch pin.

Garnet dark red, abrasions to facet edges. Diamonds in closed back settings, bright and lively. Bird slightly loose on mount with one small diamond deficient from wing. Abrasions and discolouration to mount consistent with age and wear. Later brooch pin to reverse, old repair to reverse and small brake to one branch visible from reverse, fittings for possible attachment to larger jewel now deficient. In good condition.
