Gold and gem set necklace, Early 19th Century

The canetille work links highlighted at intervals with floral motifs set with oval foil backed garnets and cabochon turquoises, length approximately 430mm.

Garnets dark purplish red, of varying saturations, with typical inclusion visible to naked eye and under magnification. One garnet with small chip and some with slight abrassions to facet edges. Turquoise light blue in general, some stones discoloured as medium bluish green. Well articulated, gold links slightly mishapen and some bent, a few gold grains deficient. Secure clasp fitting. Some abrasions and tarnish to mount consistent with age and wear. In good condition.
