Description

The mount decorated with white enamel, seed and half pearls, later set with a cabochon foiled back garnet, inscribed to reverse, 'J A died 10th August 1788, aged 17', size N.

Condition

Garnet dark purple, measuring approximately 14.0 x 8.0 mm, typical inclusions visible under magnification, abrasions to surface, garnet possibly replacing original glazed hair locket, now deficient. Enamel with small chip. Seed pearls cream and light grey in body colour, low to medium lustre. Discolouration and abrasions to mount consistent with age and wear and section replaced on ring shank, only noticeable under magnification . Overall good condition.
