Condition

Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate although the overall tonality is deeper and richer in the original work which has warmer mushroom hues to the impasto. Condition: This work is in very good condition overall. Adjacent to the frame there is wear to all four corner tips with some skinning and small losses to the paper. There are further scattered spots of wear along the extreme edges of the composition. There are several small areas of exposed paper around the edges of the composition that are not visible in the catalogue and which are original to the work. Upon close inspection there are three small impact rub marks in the upper section of the composition with associated stable cracks. There is a faint rub mark towards the lower left corner of the composition and a small red spot to the centre of the bottom edge, possibly original to the work’s execution. There is a tiny area of craquelure in the lower centre of the composition. There is no evidence of any retouching when examined under ultraviolet light.
