Condition
Colour:
The colours in the catalogue are fairly accurate although the red is brighter and more vibrant in the original and the white tends more to ivory.
Condition:
The work is in good condition. There is canvas draw in each corner. There is light wear in places to the extreme edges. There is a small paint loss three cm above the left corner and one near the middle of the top edge. There is a small scuff mark by the centre of the right edge and faint handling marks along all four edges. There is some stable craquelure to the white text and a small area of paint loss to the B of the artists signature original to the artists intention. The varnish on the letters has yellowed over time. There are other faint surface and text irregularities which appear to be original to the work.
