Condition

Overall in very good condition. The shade with approximately 4-5 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout, and with some traces of surface soiling to the recessed contours of the shade leading. The shade leading is beautifully rendered with very fine lines, and displays an exceptionally deep and rich russet brown patina. The base is in remarkably good condition. By all accounts the green favrile glass blown through the base reticulations appears to be original with no visible condition issues or restoration. The patinated bronze surfaces of the base with some light surface wear, surface abrasions and gentle rubbing consistent with age and gentle use. This base was originally designed as an oil lamp base, and was converted to electricity most likely in the period. Thus, at the time of this conversion the present riser and socket cluster were added. (The underside of the oil canister and base were fortunately not drilled at the time of conversion, and the electric cord extends from the bottom of the riser.) One of the outer socket casings is slightly loose from its backing, though stable and fully functional. With replaced finial. The proportions and color palette of the shade and base are very complementary, and the base is a beautiful example of this exceedingly rare model. Please note that the oil canister is impressed TIFFANY STUIDOS/NEW YORK/25914.
