- favrile glass, patinated copper and bronze, with removable silver-plated metal, enamel and glass pocket clock and barometer
Provenance
Holland Arts, Philadelphia
Condition
Overall in very good condition. The bronze surfaces throughout retain a rich russet brown and dark green patina, showing gentle rubbing and light surface soiling in some of the recessed contours consistent with age and use with a few occasional traces of surface oxidation and discoloration. The inset favrile glass panels original and appear to the undisturbed. The glass in the frame above the barometer with two cracks at the top of the work that extend the width of the glass panel (approximately one inch) and with minute associated loss and separation to the glass. With a smaller stable hairline crack to the same area of the work over the clock, which is approximately ½ inch in length. Both the barometer and the clock are removable through doors in the back of the case, which appears part of the original design. Sotheby’s has not examined the barometer nor the clockworks, and does not guarantee their functionality. A beautiful example of this rare model.
